I love this toothpaste! It effectively desesitizes teeth and smoothes them over. However, buyers should be aware that you must stick with it for a number of weeks in order for it to work properly. If you try it for a few days and claim it doesn't work (like most negative reviewers probably do), then you're fooling yourself. With anything, you must give it a chance to do its job.

It is true that this toothpaste has a rather...unpleasant taste (at least to me). It's hardly minty. It's more medicine-like. But it's not unbearable.

It's a small container, so use it wisely. A little goes a long way. My tube lasted me around a month.

I can see why my dentist recommended this to me! It's great for sensitive gums and protecting teeth against wear overall.

Tastes Good / Perfect in Theory, February 13, 2008

I just got through a tube of this toothpaste, hence I am buying more.

Pros:
-Tastes Good
-Contains Fluoride (hardens teeth)
-Contains No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (bad for gums)

Cons:
-Uninformative Labelling
-Contains Fluoride (blackens teeth)

The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it does not describe the means by which it hardens tooth enamel. If the only way it does this is via fluoride, I've heard of better ways. Fluoride does harden enamel, but it can also turn teeth black (I know from both research and experience). Pronamel may use other means to harden teeth, but it does not state which means it uses (aside from fluoride), so it's really a crapshoot.

This is still the best toothpaste I have come across, so I recommend buying it.

There is one major difference that most people will overlook and that is there is no Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in this product. There is research out there that this inactive ingredient will cause sloughing in the mouth which can lead to cancor sores or mouth ulcers. I stopped using any toothpaste with that ingredient and it has helped.

This toothpaste does have the same active ingredients though. Plus its not as abrasive as other toothpastes.

I was getting ready to buy more gel and was shopping around....I had bought from this site a several months ago...it seemed that the consistency was too thick but I used it with rather minimal results..now I found out why..thanks to another purchaser I looked at the expiration date..it had expired in May 07, I purchased mine in 09! buyer beware...I would rather pay another seller more for my product.

I have read many of these reviews where everyone says they received product that expired in 07.

On the back of the top of the container you will see a serial number. If you are using the 10%,15% or 35% version, it will look exactly like this... #20001.5 051807. the last 6 digits are not an expiration date. They are inventory stock numbers. 10 years from now if this product still exists, it will say 051807. It doesn't make the product 13 years old.

Great product, must re-apply the gel every so often, November 5, 2006

I used this teeth whitening product for about a year, and I loved the results. My teeth have white spots on them from when I wore braces, and this was the cheapest option my dentist gave me to make them blend in. I used the gel for an hour every other day for a month. Then about every 6-8 weeks (depending on my tooth color), I followed up with another bleaching. Just a warning if you have sensitive teeth, this made my teeth really sore at first, and it was hard to eat anything really hot or cold the morning after I used it. My dentist gave me some fluoride gel to use on the nights I didn't bleach, and that seemed to help. I also found that if I only left the trays in for 45 minutes, and didn't use it every night, it didn't make my teeth quite so sensitive.

Overall I was very satisfied with the results. I would suggest keeping an extra pack of syringes on hand in case your teeth begin to darken again. I still drink coffee & brown drinks a lot, so that could be why I had that problem though.

A great tasting toothpaste, July 28, 2007

I have been using this toothpaste for approximately one year and I love the flavor. This is one of the best toothpaste I've used. I give it 5 stars. However, it's getting harder and harder to find -- I hope they are not discontinuing it. I have been using the apricot in its place, which is also a great tasting toothpaste but not gel -- it's a little foamy but gets the job done.

Bottom Line, Tom's of Maine makes great trasting toothpaste that cleans as well as any other brand.

I absolutely detest the taste and scent of mint and cinnamon. Wouldn't you know that's what most toothpaste is made of. Well, Tom's of Maine is one company that finally gets it and understands that not all adults like mint and cinnamon. I purchased this toothpaste strictly based on the Amazon reviews and am so happy that each of the reviewers took time to give their feedback. It was only fitting that I added my review in hopes of helping someone else make a good decision. This toothpaste is heaven sent! I love, did I say LOVE the flavor. I have to admit initially I thought it was a bit costly, but to me it's well worth the price not to feel nauseous when brushing my teeth.

Purchase this toothpaste and I promise you will not be disappointed. I am pretty frugal and I'm always looking for ways to save money. I splurged and paid for 2 day shipping because I was so anxious to put myself out of misery with the current toothpaste I was using. I'm a Tom's customer forever as long as they keep making this product.

I read the reviews on both this and the version without the Lip Gloss and took a chance anyway. I am not a patient person and have never been able to stick with whitening strips for 5 or 7 days in a row - I really wanted something that delivered the full benefit in one treatment.

I took the advice of other reviewers, read the directions and warnings carefully, and did not empty all of the goo out into the trays - just a small line. As a result, I did not experience the concerns expressed by others and definitely noticed an improvement in the whiteness of my teeth.

I did have a bit of sensitivity so just be prepared for that. It went away after a few hours.

This whitener gave me ok results after two hours. The tray and product itself were easy to use. After each use I could see my teeth getting shinier. I think my teeth are really white anyway, so I was pleased with the results, but it wasn't the same results I have gotten from white strips used 30 minutes twice a day for two weeks. If you are looking for a quick boost of whitening, this product is good. Also worth mentioning is that I did not have the same sensitivity as the white strips I have used in the past.
